Former CIA Director Tenet Calls for Tougher Internet Security
Addressing an IT security conference in Washington, to which media were barred, former CIA Director George Tenet called for greater security of the Internet, saying it is "a potential Achilles heel for our financial stability and physical security".
Tennet believes that "known adversaries (are) conducting research on information attacks," and that enemies including "intelligence services, military organizations and non-state actors" were already mapping the nations cyber vulnerabilities. "I know that these actions will be controversial in this age when we still think the Internet is a free and open society with no control or accountability, but ultimately the Wild West must give way to governance and control" media was later told. It may be funny to hear this, but the concept of how Cyberdine Systems in Terminator 3 was disabled and over ridden is much a concern speaking in terms of human interference. To be able to cripple a countries defence system would be worse than running into the desert with a 3ltr bottle of water, half filled with salt.
