iTunes Reported to the European Commission over Charges

Britain’s Office of Fair Trading has reported Apple’s online music service, iTunes, to the European Commission, stating that the service overcharges customers in the United Kingdom. The complaint follows accusations that Germans and French pay less.
The first accusation was made by Which?, formerly known as the Consumer Association. The OFT report claims that UK customers pay 20% more in the UK than their European counterparts. They are also banned from logging on to other iTunes sites.

The OFT said that the European Commission would be better able to rule on the case, as it encompasses more than three European Union states. Apple has not commented on the formal complaint.
