NVidia to Supply PlayStation 3 Graphics Chip
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and NVidia have announced that graphics giant NVidia is to supply the company with the graphics chip for the new PlayStation, which is currently still in development.
The chip will hold a version of NVidia’s GeForce processor, though the companies would not confirm what type of GeForce processor will be used. Sony has also stated that the deal will allow them to use the chip in other products. Analysts believe that the PlayStation 3 will be released in the middle of 2006, however this has not been confirmed by Sony. Source

Probably a Geforce ti-4600, then it will be 100x better than the PS2. I thought they were using some crazy cell chip from IBM? Wasn't that supposed to be used as the GFX too? What happened to that?
![]() Oh I see now it has 2 chips. I thought I read somewhere that the cell chip would use parts of it's cells to perform gfx functions.. Guess not.
