Amazon Announces DVD Rental Service

The UK branch of Amazon.com has announced that it will be offering DVD rentals to its customers through the DVD department of their online store. They will be using the technology pioneered by Netflix, a US company.

Customers who utilise the new service will receive 10% off the retail price when they buy through Amazon.co.uk. The service will run on a monthly fee, with no late charges. They will have a limited number of DVDs they’re allowed to rent at one time.

The announcement by Amazon comes at a time when online DVD and Video rental is taking off in the UK. Currently, there are four different services available, and Netflix is planning on launching a UK service in the near future.
