The fall of Bit Torrent

Goodbye SuprNova.org
The most popular BitTorrent web site has now bit us farewell. Suprnova.org says goodbye after a year and a half of providing more BitTorrent links than any other web site. We wish them good luck in the future endeavors.

As you have probably noticed, we have often had downtimes. This was because it was so hard to keep this site up! But now we are sorry to inform you all, that SuprNova is closing down for good in the way that we all know it. We do not know if SuprNova is going to return, but it is certainly not going to be hosting any more torrent links. We are very sorry for this, but there was no other way, we have tried everything.

UPDATES: The MPAA is more than likely behind this shutdown of SuprNova.org.

Also another BitTorrent site TorrentBits.org is down.

TVTorrents and Phoenix-Torrents are both gone also.

I concur. But it's sad to see SuprNova.org go down Oh well~ They'll be remembered by me though.

From LokiTorrent:

Quote:
The big reason for the recent witch hunts is because many bittorrent clients are slow to make changes to the BT protocol to decentralize bittorrent.

E-mail the author of the clients you use to add the 'get_peers/peers' extension to their clients. This removes the need for trackers beyond a single connection. (this means, if a tracker goes down, your transfers continue at full speed without issue)

Send the e-mail, as this will not happen until enough pressure is placed on the authors of BT clients. Force bittorrent to evolve!

XBT Client + BitComet are the only clients that support this so far.
Indeed I am pleased to hear the above.

Just remember that IRC is forever growin and those pigs, gov bods can not close it down since most of the kits installed that act as bots are gov pc's hence the huge upload bandwidth.

...the bittorent network can't fall.... not possible enless every ISP closed every port it attempted to use.... highly doubtful...

and bittorent has been used for a good amount of "legal" reason, for example music uploading and downloading for people creating there own stuff....

or another is Omega drivers getting bittorented around

"The fall of Bit Torrent"

Not even close- should change the title because it is not accurate at all. It is BS those sites were taken down, but there are others and will be more in the future.

Also blocking ports does nothing, bittorent uses any port you want.

BT slow? no, you must not have set it up properly...or used the right torrents/trackers. off of TB I was regularly able to get stable speeds of 300-400kB/s, right from the get go. this is on my 3mb/256kb cable.

REMOVED ZARDON........ was great if you got in. Those "closed network", seeding ratio required torrent sites worked really well.

Lol... yeah IRC. Man I remember when I started using that back in like 7th grade. It's been a while since i've used it, hope I can remember the commands. Atleast we've got Ircspy incase the worst comes and Bittorrent dies, but I highly doubt it will.

I was in Torrentbits- strict mods, but you got quality material at very fast speeds if you kept you ratio up like I did.

BT slow? Not even close.

anything using that much bandwidth will completely ruin a network...especially using both down and up...I have nothing against or for it, it just seems to me that you can't use that kind of bandwidth without clogging something up
