Default Post AMD Embarks On Coast-To-Coast Tour

SUNNYVALE, CA -- October 29, 2002 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today initiates a 20-city U.S. tour in San Diego, Calif., to share information and connect with some of AMD’s most valued customers – PC enthusiasts, system builders and retail partners. The AMD Reality Check: Extreme Performance Project 2 will caravan across the country with stops in major metropolitan areas coast-to-coast.

“PC enthusiasts are core AMD customers,” said Ed Ellett, vice president of Client Business segment for AMD’s Computation Products Group. “As some of our biggest supporters, enthusiasts understand that PC performance is based on more than megahertz and that the true measure of a PC’s capability is how well it runs software applications.”

Attendees at each event can expect an energized gathering of technology devotees, gaming system demonstrations, discussions on new advances in processor design and a chance to compete in a “Battle of the Boxes” computer-building contest, whereby contestants will attempt to construct the highest performing computer system.

“In addition to providing information, this tour is an excellent venue for AMD to listen and gather input from our customers,” said Ellett. “These events give us a reality check on their computer performance needs.”

AMD will also meet with system builders and retail associates at each stop of the Reality Check tour. These mainstay partners will have an opportunity to discuss new technology innovations with AMD representatives. System builders can get new details on recent platform advances, while retail partners can learn more about AMD processor-based desktop and notebook computers from leading OEM’s.

Default Post Chicago anyone?

Hey, I've been looking for a reason to try AMD...any reps out there reading wanna bribe me to lead a DH contigency to the Chicago show?

Just teasing, I really wouldn't mind checking it out and it looks like I might actually be able to. 11/18/02, 8:30pm to 11:00pm, A. Finkl & Sons, 2011 N Southport Ave, Chicago. It's only about a 30 minute drive for me, I really can't think of any reasons NOT to go. (Well, 'cept for my total lack of AMD equipment except for one lonely 1.3Mhz T-bird with no board for it. )
