Gigabyte 3D1: is it a SLI alternative?

Gigabyte Technology unveiled its new 3D1 graphics card, which many call an answer to SLI architecture.

3D1 is designed for PCI Express bus and bases on two 500 MHz NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT GPUs. It also has 256 MB GDDR3 (1.6 ns, 600 MHz; 625 MHz max. potential clock rate), 256-bit bus (seems to be one of the first cards on NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT with such bus width).

Why are they calling 128bitx2 256 bit? when each core has
acess to 128mb of 128bit memory

wow not bad that it only takes a nv card with 1000mhz total core and a total of 256mb of 1200mhz ram and a total of 16 pipes to beat a single ATI x850 impressive

glad giga-bye cought up wth what ati's and others been doing for years putting more then 1 gpu on one card. it's cheapr and faster then a SLI soultion...
