Yeah, I had a bazillion problems when I started playing with XP radeon drivers this time around. You really gotta learn a new un-install routine.

Its amazing. You cant get a response from them when their 9700 that you paid 400 bucks for does'nt work but yet they cry a river over a leaked set of drivers. It's funny yet it's sad.
Well Since Ati seems to be paying attention then I have a question for them.
Why dont you worry about fixing the messes you have made instead of leaked drivers?
Zardon and you guys I support you and what you do 100 percent.
You guys do great work.
The truth of the matter is that if you guys dont host these files someone else will. There will always be leaks and there is little to nothing that ati can do about it.
They should support it. It gives them feedback.
So In closing I again would like to say what a great site that driverheaven.net is and ask Ati what is wrong with you people?
I hate nvidia but I swear another screw up from Ati and thats it. I will go Nvidia!
Thank you I really appreciate the comments and when I opened Driverheaven my intention was to get a bunch of good guys who love hardware and with the help of omega and cyborg to help everyone get the most from their cards and hardware.

Im certainly not going to badmouth or get into a discussion on ATI and their practices on Driverheaven as this site is not about that, this site is about support and its also about a community who will help each other out when they have problems and to discuss all subjects.

I have a 9700 myself and its the best graphics card I have owned, ever. Perhaps looking from a wider perspective sometimes I feel that large companies can lose touch with the guys like you and me, the guys who buy it, and what we want and what we need to get the most from our cards. Most people here who install beta sets are aware that, they wont be supported via the company and may possibly have issues. The worst that can happen is a hosed OS, which is hardly a major issue for the majority of the people on this board, and I feel those who arent sure about installing a beta, wont.

There is not really much more to say about that, but I really do make the comment that, personally I dont like being threatened in a hostile manner with legal action when I feel that Driverheaven is only giving the end customer, the people who buy and support the company an additional option, and one which I would like to state in this case was given to an end customer via Powercolor, one of ATis major affliates.

Driverheaven has strict conduct guidelines, its not some sleazy underground site that hosts pirated software or porn, its a good place for people to talk and share knowledge, its also a great place to learn and its also the home to Cyborg and Omega, two of the most talented driver tweakers on the net.

We have over 10,000 members in 6 months, and sometimes 1 million hits a day, we are doing something right.

Thanks again.

Zardon.

Sorry for my dumb question, but - what the heck has "IQ" to do with a gfx-card?

Yeah, it took me a while, too. Image Quality.

This driver set - as the previous - has terrible 2D speed, the desktop (XP) takes forever to refresh. More, this set is less stable then the previous, sometimes I get a black screen and the computer locks, for no obvious reason (like in the middle of doing nothing, just watching the desktop, or sometimes when starting a random application).

SmartGart doesn't work, reports 'no AGP' although in BIOS the card is set at 4x. SmartGart never worked on my card (greyed out). The setup.exe and smartgart utility in the gart archive don't start at all.

I am positive I did a proper uninstal of the previous driver, as with the 7.78. I also tried the whole stuff at nominal frequencies (no oc, fsb or vcard), same results.
