CIA warns of Asian technological domination

China and India will increasingly set the standards for the global technology industry, according to a report from the CIA.

In its predictions for the world in 2020 the CIA's National Intelligence Council warned that these two global players will increasingly dominate the focus of the world economy.

The agency expects that the technologically literate populations of China and India will spread around the world, filling jobs currently performed by workers in Western countries.

Ya we're pretty screwed here in the us/canada, cant compete with a massiv population and a stronger work ethic.

the work ethic is a big part of it. but unfortunatley so is almost slave labor conditions & theft of IP. these 2 factors have a huge undermining effect on the economy. that & american & to lesser degree euro companies willing to take short advantage of the labor issue.

High standards in PC technology industry coming out of India! ' more like low standards, ' the only good thing is supporting India economy, ' and rest of the would gets cheap crapy hardware, try curry in a hurry

it is not the hardware manafacturing that is the problem but all the 'support' that is being farmed out.
you have everything from basic support for your isp thru various software to hardware, & even medical.
it is pretty sad when you have to have an interpreter for your support & you can not understand either one of them(personally experienced this one). gets even better with the med side. diag of xrays & other basic diagnostics are being done over there instead of locally. or even in country.
tech education is down in a lot of areas in this country. it is a major problem. but the amount of 'farming out' far outstrips the decline in various tech/med areas. it is greed plain & simple. until the US puts some sort of economical block in place things are only going to get worse.
