Microsoft To Rename Media Free XP
Microsoft have agreed to change the name of "Windows XP Reduced Media Edition."
The European Commission have asked Microsoft to rename the media free edition after fears that the name would discourage people from purchasing the edition. The name is now unknown and Microsoft and EU officials are working together to come to an agreement on the new editions naming scheme. The media free edition of Windows XP is due to be released in February within Europe. Microsoft recently accepted the EU decision which meant that the company has to ship an edition of Windows XP without Windows Media Player. As well as stripping Windows Media Player from Windows XP, Microsoft has been ordered to reveal essential APIs to rival software companies like Apple and RealPlayer. _______________ Source: Neowin |

It just is plain stupid of Microsoft to agree to rename this product. IMHO the european butt wipes wanted a Windows with out a media player now they are afraid it wont sell if its labeled saying Windows XP reduced media,..geeze,.. thay should just chill out and quit being so stupid. If I was Bill Gates I'd increase the price of this "European" Windows XP and make back the money these A**'s cost me in BS court battles.

guess the eu(like the us) could not get them on anything real so figured they would just 'get' them no matter what. now do not think i believe ms is clean. far from it. i just cant see how this helps the consumer. probably the opposite.

I personally don't agree with all these charges against MS. I don't work for them or anything, but I do like their Windows products. Security? Bugs? It's like only the largest OS out there. There's bound to be bugs, and security issues. Someones always trying to expose them that's why. Think about how many lines of code that's in these things. There IS going to be conflicts.
It's their product, they can do whatever the heck they want with it. If I was Mr. Gates, I put in my product what I want to, and if you don't like it, then make your own, or don't buy it. That simple.
