Half-Life 4 Years

Half-Life is today turning 4 years, and is still going strong!

This day 4 years ago in 1998, Half-life went gold and hit store shelves a few days later. Since then, Half-life has gone on to be one of the biggest games ever, and generated one of the most popular online games ever as well, Counter-Strike. Half-Life and Counter-Strike have profoundly revolutionized the online fps genre, becoming the most played online FPS game in the history of gaming stats.

I never liked Half-Life, I got it when it was jus' out and didn't like it, I feel like I've been missing out, but I won't be doing anything about it, I've got Doom III to look forward to now.

Half-life was the first game I REALLY got into tweaking for, the first game I learned the mouse/keyboard combo over just the keyboard for, the first 3D-shooter that ever truly sucked me into the story, and it raised the bar for the whole damned industry of gaming signifigantly. Kudos and big ups to all involved in it's development/support!

I can't stand the people who call themeselves L337 when the only ones playing are a bunch of n00bs and a handful of the rest. Anyone can own a n00b guys, get a new game.

Half-life and Deus Ex are the only two games that I felt compelled to finish, in my opinion nothing since has come close to matching these two. Can't wait for the sequels!

I have no problem with older games, hell I still love playing Descent II, but I hate people who brag that they 'are the baddest mutha fukas in the game' when 90% of the original players have picked up and moved on - thus - the only ones left are a handful of good ones, and a whole lot of n00bs who still can't play the game.

These are the stangings for Half life from last week..
I realise that it's much lower now then when I was claning..
But there are alot of Oldschoolers playing still, most of the noob'z moved on to CS or something else..
TOTAL Players:5299
Minutes: 666,638
Frags: 902,600
Servers: 74 (previous week)

These are the standings for Counter Strike for last week..
TOTAL Players:562,153

Frags: 41,115,180
Servers: 2737 (previous week)
this of course is just how many the CLQ keeps track of.. there are more for both..
I read the top 100 players for both, they look pretty good to me..
So I encourage newbie's to play this game, not detour them from it..
They both awesome games despite there age..
You get skills in those two games that will pave the way for all this new stuff..
nothing plays like these too..

Awww nforcer quit being a new software pimp...

One of my favorite games i still play all time is wizardry gold (circa 1985) played it for three hours this morning.. And I have all the fall releases also (UT2003, GTA III, Need for Speed hotpursuit 2, Icewind Dale 2, Hoeroes of might and magic 4 & expansion) play those a lot but some of the old classics will never die.

I do play NFS HP2 and UT2k3 as well as some of the classics. I just can't stand the people who think they are so good at a game when there isn't much of a challange left.

Descent II is a really old game (not as old as Descent I) but you don't hear me bragging about how good I am at it. Back when it was popular I did my fair share of carnage, but now that its time has passed, I don't brag that I'm one of the best becuase that would be like saying I'm the best Pac-Man player in the world. First off, 'who cares' and seccond, 'ok, so what?'
