Default Post MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING DRIVERHEAVEN - PLEASE READ!

We've enjoyed tremendous success here at DriverHeaven, beyond our wildest dreams. Sooner or later, things have to be done to allow such success to continue.

To that end, we are announcing a major changeover. We have outgrown our current software, and while we could spend hundreds of man-hours working to correct the issues that are holding things back, there are a number of reasons that just make this course of action neither feasible nor desirable. So for a multitude of reasons, we are changing the entire forum software system that drives this website. We will be able to keep all messages, user accounts, in fact almost everything will port over. However: avatars will NOT port over, and will have to be re-uploaded once the switch has been made.

If you are using an avatar, you MUST back the avatar up to your own system before next weekend, which is our target for the changeover. Additionally, at some point during the next 14 days, the server will be down for about 1 hour while it too is upgraded. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work on all of these things, and look forward to providing you an even better and significantly FASTER DH experience in the future.

Thanks for your support - without you this wouldn't be nearly as much fun!

What?

Now if we "all" payed for DH as a service this sentence would make sense. I do understand the reason for saying it but you guys work your but's off on this site. If anyone should be patient, appreciative, and understanding it should be us.

It should work both ways, only then that'd make true sense...!

I appreciate every aspect of DH.net, the people and the contents, and having sustained a tremendous member count (post count) in a short time, I give it a huge :thumbs up: and a big Thank You for being a great place to relax and to actually learn something...

Also, I'm very interested in what you're upgrading to!

Regards!

Andrej

why couldn't u just wait to DP 2.0?
2.0 is already extremely faster than any of the other BBoards.

Just a heads up: The reminder in the top right covers the donate button @ 800X600. Looks bad.

well how about you wait until we at least get the new forum up before suggesting additions. might be easiest. and there might be a few things you think are cool.

All I ask is that you don't go feature crazy on us. I've seen forums that have virtually every feature the software contains enabled. Some features are cool, but damn if it doesn't make the forum look crappy and cluttered. Know what I mean?

Just a suggestion/request.

well I dont want to give too much away regarding it, as its better you all just see it when it opens, but yes its a better design (IMO) and we will have themes at a later date (different colour schemes artwork etc which will be selectable), along with other goodies.

We will be using the latest version 2.2.8.

Please remember to take a copy of your avatars guys, so nothing is lost. thanks.

Ok, we will see! I was worried about design (example - forums.winamp.com have VBulletin and design not so good like DH's), but now I am not. Thanks!
