Default Post $229 Complete PC

TigerDirect Includes LindowsOS on $229 Computer System

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 2002--TigerDirect (http://www.tigerdirect.com), a subsidiary of Systemax Inc. (NYSE:SYX), is now shipping a $229 complete PC featuring the LindowsOS operating system.

A system powered with the AMD Duron 1.3GHz processor, 128MB memory, 10GB hard drive, 56X CD-ROM drive, 56K modem and floppy drive with LindowsOS is now available at the TigerDirect.com website in a move to provide individuals with a compelling offer for that "extra" PC they want to add to their home.

"Consumers are looking for a low-cost second machine for their home," says Gilbert Fiorentino, CEO of TigerDirect. "This system provides great performance at the best value available - including a fully functional operating system. We're pleased to be the first nationwide retailer to offer such a compelling value."

With the PC market suffering a decline in demand, TigerDirect is providing an alternative to the standard fare. TigerDirect's configuration is offering more "bang for the buck," providing a huge performance increase over similarly priced systems at national retailer Wal-Mart.

"TigerDirect, Inc. and Lindows.com have made available a powerful yet affordable machine to the general public," said Michael Robertson, chief executive officer of Lindows.com, Inc. "Consumers can't go wrong with this offering. Clearly, this is one of the most powerful sub-$250 PCs available on the market."

TigerDirect distributes over 25 million catalogs annually and draws millions of visitors to tigerdirect.com each month. TigerDirect.com has also been noted a top destination for online shoppers. Known for the "best deals anywhere," TigerDirect continues to prove this with a complete PC solution including the LindowsOS operating system.

I bought my first computer from tiger direct in april and was very dissapointed with them. The day i received it they had sent me a refurbished monitor, which i did not order and i could not get any thing to come up on the screen. After spending 2 hours on the phone with their tech help they said my graphics card was bad. i put in a new one and it did not change anything , come to find out the monitor was bad. a freind helped figure that one out. Then a month later my hard drive went bad and i am now thinking this hard drive is bad, it is really noisy and my computer is running funny. Plus they have a no money back on any purchase policy which i thought stunk. only store credit. I have talked to others and they have had problems with tiger also. I am sure that others out there have had good dealings with them but i just wanted to let others know to be careful when ordering from them.

well its not so good to read about people having problems with a company I would suggest anyone thinking about purchasing from tiger does a little homework first just to be on the safe side.

The first PC I bought was from Tiger, too. It was in mid-1997.
I got a CyrixPR200, 16MB EDO RAM, 4MB PCI video card, 2GB EIDE hard drive, 6x CD-ROM 4-disc changer, 56K modem, stereo sound card, stereo speakers and Windows 95 OSR 2 . . . for $800.

Heh, but the darn thing ran just fine for 2.75 years, when I ditched it for a Dell Looking back, the things I like about it, was the fact that it came with a Boca hardware modem, and they also gave me a real Windows CD. Someone I knew got a Compaq Pentium 150MHz just before me, and they got a Winmodem and a retarded "QuickRestore" CD.

After that, I think I bought 1 or 2 items from them, can't remember what exactly, but I never had to return anything.

Anyway . . . that was just my experience, and I have no idea how they are today.

i know of a couple of people who have ordered from them and had good luck that is why i went with them and price of course. I was just wanting people to learn from my experience and double check your orders and check the company's return policy before ordering. live and learn they say.

Default Post I have ordered over $10,000 from Tiger in 3 years

Now I am not going to say that I haven't had any problems with components bought from there, but I can say that I have never had a problem getting them to take care of it. The procedure is a little drawn out sometimes, but they have always came through, even when "I" cracked the core of a brand new XP2000+ trying to attach a heatsink (shim apparently wasn't thick enough ), they took it back and gave me another one. They don't always have the "best" price on everything, but I would have to say they stand behind what they sell.

I think that the price really makes it worth it if you have software of your own and can completly re-program it. A complete semi decent system for $229 you can't beat that. I've got more than enough proggys and need for extra systems that it then becomes a very cost effective solution...

I ran a machine I got from TigerDirect for 3 years... my only problem with them was when they decided to sign me up for subscriptions to 3 magazines without my consent and billed me for them as well.
