Who's buying iPods?

As many as 22 million American adults, or about 11 percent of the U.S. population, own iPods or other MP3 players, a new study has found.

The study, carried out by the nonprofit Pew Internet & American Life Project through phone interviews of more than 2,200 people, showed that those who are younger, wealthier and use the Internet are more likely to own such gadgets.

While one in five people under the age of 30 have an iPod or other MP3 player, the number dropped to one in seven in the 30-to-39 and 40-to-48 age groups.

Similarly, about a quarter of people with household incomes of $75,000 or more owned such gadgets. That figure dropped to 10 for those in the $30,000 to $75,000 range and to 6 percent among those earning less than $30,000.

The study indicated that those who use the Internet are four times as likely as non-Internet users to have MP3 players. These gadgets have a gender divide too. The study showed that men have a 50 percent greater chance than women of owning a digital media player.

Anyone use a Creative Zen? How's the battery life on those little babies?

dunno....but on a Creative MuVo I get 14 hours on a AAA battery

The MUVO isn't even close to the same, but I have a NOMAD Zen Xtra 30 GB (and i think these are only $250

) and I get around 12-14 playing nothing but high bitrate WMAs so it's comparable, and the sound is better than the iPod, and if you want small the creative zen... micro is smaller and better than the ipod mini and larger total memory. I hope this helps.

the Zen Touch battery life is close to 24 hours i think, my girlfriend has one

I think I'm the only person left on the planet that uses their PDA for mp3's on the go. 2GB flash card is all I need, for programs, GPS maps, and music and I still have over a gig free.

My girlfriend has an ipod, I don't know anyone else with one though, only other mp3 players.

I want a cd player that plays ogg cds.

Only their hard drive and flash players. They said they'd release firmware to play oggs on their cd players, I'm just waiting...
