Fire fear prompts Xbox cable swap

Microsoft has said it will replace more than 14 million power cables for its Xbox consoles due to safety concerns.

The company said the move was a "preventative step" after reports of fire hazard problems with the cables.

Xboxes made before 23 October 2003 for all regions but Europe need a new cable while consoles in Europe made before 13 January 2004 require a replacement.

Microsoft said it had received 30 reports of minor injury or property damage due to faulty cables.

Even if yours is not defective get it replaced anyways. It's free, and there's nothing like having a spare power cord around.

Yay for Microsoft. Im well impressed, just ordered my new powercable, all I need now is a new X-Box to put on the end of it after my horrendous case modding attempts. I don't know how people manage to fit cold-cathodes and extra hard-drives in them? All mine carries at the moment is my Peanut butter sandwiches to work and back. The worlds most expensive lunchbox? Quite possibly.

Yeah we are probably under represented due to the sheer difficulty in finding any PC component that vaguely resembles a performance part without having to hit the internet. North-east of England sucks no-one should be forced to trawl the hell that is PCWorld in order to satisfy there tech-nerd urges.
Right im off to research the market for quality parts in Newcastle.

You tried computer orbit?

ZeroOne is on a distinguished road

My replacement powercord has arrived today , the only difference i see is a biggger antistatic coil, and goldplated contact busses, i'm one of the first who get it i assume.

The Dutch M$ afiliate is quick with sending them to their costumers, i ordered it 2 days ago.
I feel much saver now, since i readed it i un plugged my powercord for the night, because i'm verry
scared for suchs things.
