Thumbs Up! ATI DX9 Demos

I posted some screenshots (2fsaa) for all of you who either dont have a 9700 or dont want to risk installing the new drivers with MS DX9.

I am very impressed with these demos, and IQ, movement, lighting and overall smoothness is very high.

I am aware that static pictures do not do these demos justice but I thought you would all like a look at them anyway

Post all discussion in this thread, ive closed the picture threads.

Thanks.

DAMN !!

Has it come to the point where we cant tell a computer generated image from the real thing ??

I just feel lucky to be alive in this techno world where all of this is possible.

I guess the next step is true VR.

Great shots.

Zardon, is there any way to remove the goddamn DX9RC0 without reinstall the full OS?

"In the meantime, we are pleased to present the following movies generated from screen grabs of the demos."

First, I must say the images and video from the R300 are spendid.

On the other hand, I hate to be the one to piss on the parade of one of the replies, but this isn't render quality guys. We are probably 2+ years from it. When we can render (raytrace/caustics/soft shadows) in real-time..that is when we have bridged the gap between reality and gaming. Until then, we have to wait.

(I still have my Voodoo 1 from Orchid ($300) to mark the point when things got interesting)

Damn!! Those are impressive! The globes any one of those shots would make awesome wallpaper for the underpriveledged (maybe a little 4X lovin' first tho )

What kind of frames does the car demo get? (i.e.: could the 9700 push 8+ cars and scenery or is this only useful in demos ATM?)

Heh, the globe shot entitled "underexposed" looks like my monitor if I don't use powerstrip to crank the gamma/contrast/brightness. And that's with all monitor controls cranked. Suppose its what I get for buying an HP so many years ago.

@t0pD4wG

that's what u'ld do, if u'd system restore enabled...
i dont have it enabled. suxx up to much disk space and slows down sometimes.

and i originally just wanted to dl the installfiles to do the install later, without having to dl them. but guess what: this funtkion was not implemented.. haha.
no prlobem, worx good for me. installed the new 6228 drivers.
next restart i'll make a run of 3DMark2001SE to check for any diffs.
so far..

btw: thanx for the video linx @e144539
