Media PCs, known by many as Home Theater PCs, or simply HTPCs, are gaining momentum at a staggering rate. It wasn't all that long ago when only hardcore enthusiasts would build a PC specifically for their Home Theater using a bunch of spare components, none of which were really designed for such a use.
Now however there's a whole industry building up around the idea. Manufacturers are building components designed for HTPC use, big OEMs are building entire systems, and even Microsoft themselves are getting in on the action with their Windows XP Media Center Edition OS.
Since 1996 ATI has been bringing TV to the PC with their All-In-Wonder and TV Wonder product lines, so it's little wonder that in many HTPC systems you'll find a ATI card somewhere. So with an already broad lineup targeted toward multimedia users, ATI has recently announced the newest addition to the TV Wonder line, the TV Wonder Elite, powered by ATI's new multimedia processor, the Theater 550 Pro.
