Apollo nVidia gForce 6600GT AGP Video Card
"So, you built that "best bang for the buck" rig last year... you spent about $1200, got an Athlon 2500+ XP that you overclocked, an nForce2 Ultra board, a gig of PC-3200 memory, a couple of SATA hard drives and a Radeon 9600Pro video card. It played Call of Duty, Battlefield Vietnam and even did a decent job with Far Cry and UT 2004. You thought this system might last you a while... maybe a couple of years. That is, until Doom 3 came out.
So whadda you do? You can't afford $1500 for a new Athlon 64 system. All you can scrape up is a couple of hundred smackeroos... what are you going to do with that?" _______________ Review: OCIA |

IMO, Doom3 is so very bad (well, if you are under ten years old I suppose it might "scare" you in the way that a Munsters television rerun might scare you) that I cannot imagine someone buying a better 3d-card merely to run it. Not only is Doom3 just a very poor game with tons of tawdry, cheap effects, ugly character models, and hokey dialogue and plotting, but it runs slow because it's programmed that way, don't ya' know...
