Without warning, Ubisoft announced today that the PC version of Ghost Recon 2 has been canceled. The game had been scheduled for a June release on the PC. "This decision was not an easy one," said the publisher.
In a short but seemingly heartfelt statement on the game's official Web site, Ubisoft outlined the reasons behind the cancellation: "We did not want to disappoint the loyal Ghost Recon fans, but we did not want to risk releasing a final product that did not meet their high expectations. With the launch of Ghost Recon 3 planned for Winter 2005, significant human resources were needed to ensure the quality of the future installment of the series, thus potentially jeopardizing the quality of either Ghost Recon 2 PC or Ghost Recon 3." _______________ Read More/Source: GameSpot

ubisoft is one of the most BS compaines alive, HOWVER i love this decission. its actually a good one. why? well because they havent done this in the past when it should have been done. take for example ravenshield, which should have been cancled because they didnt bother doing what it takes a released a buggy as hell game (for most not all).
anyways the fact is its good to hear they made a risky decission like this.

They cancelled 2 but 3 will be out at the end of the year? Why have they started the sequel to the sequel before they finished the sequel. Surely they should have just finished the sequel and then started the next sequel. Sequel? Sequel Sequel? Sequel?

My prediction, Ghost Recon 2 was intended for consoles, first. So the core development team did their work, the console versions got pushed out and was well received by critics and console consumers.
Since the game was pushed out to all three consoles first, by the time the PC version came around to being ported/converted over, it may have been too late. Instead of spending resources on the PC version, they're pouring it into Ghost Recon 3. Dumbing it down: Ubisoft made their money, and did not see it fit to waste money on a PC version that may not be well received. I'm sure it would have been easy to do a port/conversion if PC hardware/software wasn't so sporadic.
