Pulled to pieces over at Cdfreaks - the methodology is seriously flawed.
One drive, one sample, same drive burns and tests - with two different test softwares that generally give similar results, any difference is due to test variance. It's a Liteon, so the Liteon drives media support is what is really being tested. TDK DVD-R 1-8x, code TTG02 - I believe it is an ok media normally, but one thing you can rely on... the Liteon writers hate it! - or to put it another way, their write strategy for it is junk. A couple of others are unfairly downmarked by the Liteon, but those that do well on it will probably do well on most other drives - Liton makes some good and medium media look bad, I don't know that it ever makes bad media look good, though there have been a few surprises in that direction from time to time - AN31, a pretty lacklustre code for DVD-R 4x "came good" in some firmware versions. |
