Dual PCI-Ex for ATi/AMD users
Dual PCIe for AMD & ATI:
If you have heard any rumors surrounding ATI's upcoming "RD480" motherboard chipset, you will know that it supports dual PCI-Express video cards from ATI. Below is a picture of the reference motherboard that will certainly interest you AMD and ATI fans out there. I would expect to see many motherboard builders launch these in late May when the Computex show in Taiwan kicks off. _________________ Source/Picture: [H]ard|OCP |

Hmmm, looks lightweight in the usb department, also single lan connection, no com connection (unless it's on a backplate-but the atx connector area seems to have space enough for one) also the sigle pcie 1x slot will be swallowed up by a large vga cooler putting that out of the expansion scenario pretty effectively.
Doesn't look to be enough space for oversized heatsinks around the cpu area. And there's a bunch of connections at the back edge of the pci slots which'll be a bith to get to with cards installed. Having said that this may be the chipset I've been waiting for and it is only an unvalidated picture of an unreleased reference board. Time will tell and I eagerly await the release of production boards.

Yeah, it does seem a really odd place to put those connections you're talking about. But honestly, if that is the motherboard, there are 6 usb ports in the back and looks to be room for expansion to a front port. Also, I can't really think of a whole lot of motherboards that offer dual NIC's, actually off the top of my head I can only think of one type, the DFI Lanparty series. Maybe I just have been out of the motherboard market too long. I do also agree with your statement about the pci slot being eaten up by cooling. Don't the expansion slots seem to be shifted into the motherboard a pretty long way? It looks to me like they wouldn't line up with the case judging from where the mounting screw holes on the motherboard are in relation to the slots... oh well...
