We take a behind-the-scenes look at AMD's technologies for its 90 nm SOI, duel core and Athlon 64 FX-55 and Opteron production. See what goes into the making of AMD's secret sauces.

"It was a sunny Monday morning in April when AMD had invited a small group of journalists to talk about AMD's Automated Precision Manufacturing (APM). In a nutshell, APM means integrating facilities and processes throughout the entire production process with the ultimate goal of boosting the chip yield rate to the maximum technological limit.

No exact figures are forthcoming from the firm about how APM and its other process technologies will specifically boost yields, but in our experience, AMD's yield rate is probably somewhere above the 50%. Of course, this figure cannot be confirmed, but it goes without saying that its process cuts costs at the same time."

Arrrgh, duel is becoming an epidemic...

Since I don't complain about peoples spelling regularly, I take this oportunity to complain on THG and try to set this straight for others by proxy. Please, please give this a thought if you have ever been in habit of spelling it duel. It should be dual when two things like CPU cores are put together intimately, wheras a duel is often two guys in green tights prancing around eachother with silly looking swords. Pretty please with sugar on top.

It is the same problem for people wanting to trial for clan... it is usually spell as Trail instead of Trial...

This new techs are enticing me to upgrade my machine
