Aerocool Turbine 550W Power Supply Review by 3DXtreme
As mentioned at the beginning, we are increasingly impressed with each new power supply that Aerocool has put out to market. They just keep getting better and better. The only real issue with this power supply is a plague of any modular power supply system, the amount of cabling. If you have a lot of components then you will find you have a real nest of wires to contend with. Our test system was certainly in this neighborhood, we used every cable but one and it was a real mess. If you are using this power supply in a system with few components then the minimal amount of wiring will be nice. The addition of the fan power connectors on the back of the unit really was a plus as it takes the burden of powering fans away from the motherboard, however fan monitoring won’t be possible unless additional wiring is used. Overall this power supply is a very solid unit and had no trouble handling a system with a high end video card and multiple hard drives all being used at the same time. On top of it all this PSU looks really cool too. We have no problems recommending this power supply for even the most power hungry systems out there.
Pros 550W supply. Lots of power connectors. Molex connectors are designed for easy disconnection and work well. Sleeved cables. Mirror finish paint job with buffing cloth. Quiet fans. Cons Modular system can create a wiring mess. _______________________________________ Read Full Review: 3DXtreme |
