Epic Games Unreal Engine 3 technology and tools to be used exclusively by Silicon Kni
"Epic Games today announced that its Unreal Engine 3 technology and tools will be used exclusively in all next-generation games developed by Silicon Knights, best known for titles like Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. We could expect the announcement of some new titles based on the Unreal Engine 3 around the E3 timeframe."

So much for a metal gear solid 4 for the PS2
![]() Good luck porting UE3 to PS2 hardware ![]() ..come to think of it, porting all those direct X calls could make running it on anything aside from XBox tricky

MGS4 is rumored to be on the PS3, but I'm also seeing rumors for the PS2.
That's two developers (MS being the other one) now proclaiming their usage for the Unreal 3 Engine. Epic Games must be really happy ![]() Remember, PJ. Epic Games has developed the U3 Engine to work with next gen consoles since they're seeing a lot of market for flexible engines in the console realm.

....meh....
Console-ifying an engine just makes it bloated with all those XBox calls in it and such. Sure you don't SEE them when playing the game...but if you play with the files enough, it becomes fairly obvious how bloated it gets |

It's for money, not for the sake of efficiency. There were some X-Box lines in the Unreal 2 engine as well. The bottom line is that they're making a wad of cash out of these deals and are going nowhere, but up. id software has plans for console gaming as well. Diversify!

I would so love it if they re-did all the LOK and Blood Omen series with the unreal 3 Engine.
