ASUS Extreme N6800 Ultra/2DT 256MB Video Card Review
You've got a few choices when considering what form of high-end graphics you'd like to complement a PCI-Express motherboard. ATI offers its X850 line that's topped off by the XT and XT PE models. Given a budget of £250 upwards, NVIDIA offers even greater choice. You can go for the 16-pipeline Gforce 6800 GT and Ultra models, or, if you're feeling particularly rich, buy two of each and run them in multi-GPU SLI mode on nForce4 SLI and Intel i955X core logics.
Whatever you decide, both ATI and NVIDIA's top-of-the-line GPUs are damn fast. Fast enough to play most of the latest games at 1600x1200 with ease. Indeed, you can even add decent levels of AntiAliasing and Anisotropic Filtering without too much penalty at lower resolutions, perfect if, say, your screen's resolution tops out at 1280x1024. ASUS has been one of NVIDIA's more prominent card partners for some time now. Its top-end NVIDIA-based hardware is usually complemented by one of the most comprehensive bundles around, and it's this bundle that often separates its overall package from others'. Today I'm looking at ASUS' GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB PCI-Express card. Is this the Ultra to own? Let's find out. Read the full review over at Hexus
