Aspire X-QPACK Aluminum MicroATX Chassis Review

Intro
LAN parties are all the rage. At least, that's what the kids are saying anyway... Really though, LAN's are great, but it can be a literal pain in the back to get all your gear from your house to the party. Enter the Aspire X-QPACK mATX case. This case is aimed directly at the Antec Aria's (reviewed here) market share, and picking up where the Aria left off, has addressed many, if not all, of the concerns of Aria users. Let's see what Aspire has come up with.

First Impressions

When I first unpacked the unit, I was suprised at how large it seemed. I say 'seemed', because upon further investigation, it's almost the exact same size as the Antec Aria. The Aria measures 7.9"H x 10.6"W x 13.2"D and the X-QPack measures 9"H x 11.2"W x 13.8"D, so it's almost the exact same footprint. The major difference between the two is you can use two 5.25" optical devices in the X-Q where the Aria only has space for one. The footprint, however, is nearly identical.

The X-QPack has a generous amount of space for such a small chassis. You can stuff (2) 5.25" optical drives, (1) 3.5" device and two hard drives in this unit without breaking a sweat. Creative modders could fit a self-contained water-cooled system in here without much fuss!

Thanks for the heads up Ev!L-aLphA, I've been pondering over an antec aria for a month but putting it off because it's too limiting and (from what I've heard) the thermal issues.

Looks like you've found the matx case for my daughters' new PC . - Cheers.
