ATi RD400 Board Exposed
ATi is going to unveiled their RD400 chipset that supports Multi VPU technology during Computex. RD400 will be classed under the Radeon Xpress 200 series and will be paired up with ULi M1573 southbridge. Notice the distance between the two PCI Express x16 slots is very narrow so only single slot card solution will be able to fit.

That's the pic of the original board. Exactly the same color, layout everything besides the second PCIe 16 slot. It's for AMD

That's clearly a fake. The first hint comes when you realize no motherboard manufacturer would be stupid enough to put dual-PEG slots that close together. They are even too close for standard slots, you couln't even fit two regular cards in those slots at the same time (compare the disatance between them with the PCIe 1x slots). They aren't even perfectly paralell with each other, and if you look at the second slot closely you can actually see that the end isn't even all there because of the fact that then end of the first one is hidden behind the audio riser. You can also see where whoever did it tried to "draw" in the edge of the 2nd slot that is hidden behind the Northbridge heatsink on the first slot, but did a vcery bad job of it.
For the ultimate proof, you only need to go look at this Inq article, which has the same shot along with a profile shot of the board. The problem is, whoever did the photochopping forgot to photochop the profile pic. The 2nd slot isn't even there! Not only is it a fake, it's a piss poor fake. The box is probably real etc, but the manufacturer clearly photochopped the photo. Last edited by Ratchet; May 21, 2005 at 07:02 PM. |

respect to griswood for finding the original picture. some tech sites seem a bit dodgey whenever fake pics or fake benchmaks are posted, they should check their sources better

There there is a clear line that makes the image look edited noticed the end of the PCIe slot is missing in the same place it's obscured. This is a amatureish image hack job @ best (not talking about my MS quick paint job lol). Also notice the second PCIe slot is slightlu crooked!also it with out a doubt the exact same board as that one http://www.xbitlabs.com/misc/picture...p-spec.jpg&1=1 it a single PCIe slot 939 board... the layout are exatly the same.

I try .... least someone got a chuckleit's amazeing what you can see and what you notice when you blow an image up to 400% even the best editors leave small marks & mistakes before anyone asks i was bored yes i know it was already pretty well proven already I justed added the iceing to the cake EDIT: while I was at it I took a minute and added two more of those crooked PCIe 16X slots and 1/2 arse fixed the missing part of PCIe #2 ![]() If I had to guess the real board would have the two slots (lower brown) like that with the two PCI 1x slots above. Or with the slots at postions 1 top and 4 with the two PCIe 1x slots inbetween.
