Game puts heroine, and hound, on the run

Was Capcom's survival horror game "Haunting Ground" designed just to annoy me?

Why else prevent me from skipping repeated protracted death scenes and force me to listen to the sounds of tearing flesh as the screen slowly dissolves to red? Why else create a game where a clear map is essential and then give me one that is difficult to follow? I can just picture someone at Capcom saying, "That's really going to bug Charles."
