ATI CrossFire X850XTs Benchies

After our initial testing this morning we managed to perform some further tests. Specifically, we were able to benchmark a Crossfire system using an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ processor and two Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition graphics cards. These results were particularly interesting, because our initial testing this morning was conducted using two X850XTs (non-PE version).

which give us an opportunity to compare the two. Using this newer system we recorded a 3DMark05 result of 10662

Unimpressive. AND using Cat5.6 at the same time, which should bring an increase of about 10% in 3DMark05. Very unimpressive.

Its a beta test system, there will be changes before it hits reviewers. however, how exactly this will alter 3dmark scores has yet to be seen.

I think it's impressive, frankly. 10662 is a great score for two cards at stock speeds on a stock FX-53. Not to mention the beta drivers (final version will give 10% boost, who knows about the betas) and the early hardware.

Though TT wasn't impressed, the 12x10 6x4x run at almost 7400 was extremely impressive. It's essentially saying that Crossfire will be able to run most games at 12x10 6x4x at the same speed that a single card could run at 10x7 0x0x. Also, if you're dissappointed, consider that maybe out of the three performance enhancing modes (ignoring the SSAA mode), this one wasn't the best for 3D05.

Also, there's a certain someone (Macci) at an ATi testing facility with a triple stage cascade with two heads. He's already run a 9063 on an untested motherboard and a SINGLE XT-PE at a (somewhat, all things considered) lowly 850,702. He and ATi both say there's more left in the card/cascade. He's also only using 5.5s. He already has a CF score, but has blocked out the second and third digit in the score...it reads like this: 1##98.

Expect more from him (Macci) in the coming days.

Screw 3d mark 05. I want to see some numbers for HL2 HDR and farcry with all the goodies turned on.

Also, anything new on the feature side of these crossfire enabled cards? Or are they the same?

Oh how I envy your friendship with ATi....

I have to wait for Macci or Grayskull to say something at XS for all my news on their situation. There hasn't even been a video for us yet.

OH WAIT.....YOU SAID VIDEO!!!! w00t! ATi is pretty much slapping nV in the face with their records by recording it for all to see it happen!
