Default Post Battlefield 2 Goes GOLD!

This just in from the front lines…Battlefield 2 has officially gone GOLD! The game will begin shipping under the EA GAMES brand starting Tuesday, June 21, 2005.

In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game’s 30+ vehicles. Players can also hone their skills against improved enemy intelligence in the new single-player campaign before competing online with up to 64 players in some of the most intense battles on the PC.

Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates. With the new online character ranking and persistence, players increase their rank and unlock awards, including new weapons, medals, and more.

Developed by Sweden-based developer, Digital Illusions, the creators of the original Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2 is rated “T” (Teen) by the ESRB and has an MSRP of $49.99. For more information about Battlefield 2, please visit http://battlefield2.ea.com or our press Web site at http://info.ea.com

I've got this thing all prepaid for.. have since.. oo.. last year. That's how much I want this game. It's probably the only game that will be able to get me away from Guild Wars right now.

Come to think of it, BF1942 is the only FPS that I have never uninstalled, or the first FPS game that I install when I reformat. I've never, in the entire history that I've been gaming, had a FPS game reside so long on my system. I've installed/uninstalled ones over and over, but BF1942 is the only one that I always play consistantly for whatever reason. I won't even mention the amount of time I spend on Desert Combat.

God damn I can't wait for the new game. Sorry Guild Wars, but it's time I rekindled an old flame. I know just where to start... ここに私は戦場1942 年来る!

I feel the same about RTCW I may give B2 a try, it looks like it has completely improved over its predecessor. I disliked BF1942 greatly, since I felt it was incomplete and lacking in quality.

Yeah I traded my BF1942 for a stick of ram. I wasn't impressed- I was playing SOFII at the time and BF1942 was laggy and the aiming system and detection was far inferior to the older SOFII.. I hope BF2 is better- it looks like it might be. We'll have to see.

i hope it runs efficiently. bf1942 is a resource hog, and at the time it didnt even look amazing and ran too hard on systems. doom 3 is pretty efficient, so is HL2.

People are saying the demo will be released about a week before the street date for the full game.

I heard the same thing from a friend that was at E3: Mid June for the demo, and it will include 1 map. No mention on internet support though.. maybe just lan.

When BF1942 first came out I was constantly fustrated with it crashing all the time. I do have to say, once Dice brought out patch 1.31 things changed. Once you get it all setup (ie. patched/tweaked) then it became a blast to play. Before then though, I would have echoed No_Sytle and BWX. Was pure hell to play for most of it's infancy. BFV on the otherhand.. I just don't hold it in the same regard as BF1942. Something.. missing.

BTW: Just to wet your appetite, if you have a FilePlanet account you can download a zip file that includes about 131 screen captures from the game. Screen caps come from one of the beta testers in Japan if memory serves. I've not seen one of these screenies outside this zip file. You can grab that HERE.

I'll have to think about the clan idea, Warpy, but it is an interesting one. I'll have to give it some thought though. I'd love to do one, but I don't know how much time I would be able to put into it.

Unfortunely, i was never able to enjoy BF1942 along with DC. You're right 1.31 patch was perfect til 1.4 screwed up everything. I was never able to get it stable and not crash. So i gave up on that game. I am just hoping this isnt true for BF2. I really need a good online shooting game right now. I rather have SOF3 tho.

If there was going to be SOF3, I hope they make some ground-breaking gameplay advancements with it.

I for one was never excited about Doom 3, but the reason I say this game is going to be big is because of its mulltiplayer.

The difference with this game is the online gameplay. It will be so different with the missions to other games with the ability to control all types of new hardware, the very fact you can have control over new vehicles, satalites, drones will be great. Basically everything in Battlefield 2 will be new, although the features that stand out the most will probably be things such as dynamic lighting effects, high detail multi-texturing processes, greater ambient physics modeling, material penetration properties, normal mapping, ragdoll physics.

I cant wait to find a clan for this game, as most online games I like to play solo like AA, but this will be awesome with a clan. In fact I am starting to get all flusted and hot, so I shall end my comments here.

Only 2 1/2 weeks more to go.. too damn long to wait in my opinion.

Oh, btw, word is June 10th for the demo. Got that from talking with the EA rep. I'll believe it when I'm actually playing it though. Anyone looking to play it should keep an eye out at Gamespot. From what I heard it's an exclusive deal EA made with them. You can bet your @$$ though that it will go beyond that site real quick.

Hesus Christos I'm so anxious for this game.

We're pleased to officially announce that GameArena will be providing Official Trusted Servers for Battlefield 2 in Australia, allowing gamers to play on servers that will improve their ranking. Stay tuned for more details about our server arrangement, but rest assured we'll be covering Battlefield 2 in force to ensure Australian gamers have the best online experience possible. The Australian release date for Battlefield 2 has been revised to the 23rd of June (moving forward from its previously announced date of the 27th).

EA have also announced some new details about the upcoming Battlefield 2 demo - though not confirmed, here's what we know so far:

. One map
. 16-player single player
. 16 and 32-player multiplayer
. Time limit per round

The demo will hopefully be available within the next week or so. Link

Some of you may have seen this already, I hadn't till just now. Suggest you watch it 99mb: Download video
