Savage is now free

The FPS/RTS hybrid, Savage, from S2Games, isn’t checking the CD Keys now, which can mean you can now play the game for free. The full version of the game can be downloaded directly from S2Games (257MB). If you’re not familiar with Savage, here’s a bit on it:

"Choose to be a commander and you will play an in-depth RTS managing the stronghold, or choose to be a warrior and you will play an intense game of first person combat. With the creation of a new game play genre, RTSS (Real Time Strategy Shooter), Savage expertly redefines the first-person shooter and real-time strategy genres by combining elements of both into one cohesive experience. As the commander in RTS mode, you will tackle resource management, develop a robust tech tree, plan your assault and lead real human players into battle. As a warrior in action mode, you will master many unique weapons, powerful units, and siege vehicles to fight a fast paced battle."

Cool, I have never heard of this game before. But looking at the screeshots it doesn't look too bad for a free game

I had a friend who ate this game up for weeks he loved it so much. I didn't really like it all that much but it's free, so that puts it back on the "I like it" list.

I remember when this game came out, I was working at EBGames. I know some people who said they really liked it. I'm going to give it a try tonight.

WTF. i just installed it, and it asked for the CD-key, you guys said that the CD key isn't required, so i clicked "OK" and it gave me "invalid CD-key". Then i clicked "decline" or whatever it says, and it exited the game. what is it?

"Enter 20 zeros as CD-KEY" from one of the posts on their own forums - not sure exactly what's going on, but it seems like this is heading for abandonware, the developer has left etc.

make sure to download the 2.00e update from the website, the game works for me.

According to this forum thread, the game is not free, but the devs have all but disappeared. I bought the game when it first came out, and loved it, but that was years ago. Last I checked which was a few months, there werent that many people playing at all...less than 50, if i remember correctly.
