ATi R520 Delayed ? ATI shares plummet

Shares of ATI Technologies Inc. fell more than 10 per cent Thursday after the computer-graphics chip maker unexpectedly swung to a loss in its fiscal third quarter and cut a fourth-quarter sales forecast it made less than two weeks ago.

It is the third sales warning this year from the Markham, Ontario, graphics-chip maker, which analysts fear is losing ground in a battle with rivals Nvidia Corp. and Intel Corp.

Most analysts expected that the bad news was done, but on Thursday, the company lowered its sales forecast for the fourth quarter to between $550-million and $580-million.

“This range has been adjusted down from the preliminary guidance announced on June 6, 2005, due to a more conservative expectation on the ramp of new products in the fourth quarter,” ATI said. The company said on a conference call that its new graphics chip, the R520, is delayed.

there is no way that the people working on the ccc have anything to do with the hardware side.

Alsi acording to the charts it looks ike the value actaully fell in "after hours" trading wensday
before the market opend its been going up thursday and friday...

it needs to hurry and drop if itsgoing to so i can make a small fortune after i buy some

mike2h, I know I just like to poke at CCC just because i dont like it. Not that its a bad thing I just choose not to use it. I just hope they will keep the old control panel around a little longer

Common for some like this to happen in the tech market, and just like Neon said it's time to BUY!! However, I found this statement amusing.."battle with rivals Nvidia Corp. and Intel Corp." Intel??? LOL Yeah..so play a game on a system /w an Extreme Graphics onboard.

Ugh Intel extreme graphics. So I guess that is try to play. I am still trying to figure out where the extreme comes in..
