Logitech SetPoint 2.40 build 855

For Windows XP and 2000 users: If you were using Logitech MouseWare with a Cordless Click! or a Cordless Click! Plus mouse, installing SetPoint on top of MouseWare will transfer control of your mouse from MouseWare to SetPoint. MouseWare will no longer recognize your mouse. If you were only using one mouse with MouseWare, you can now uninstall MouseWare and use SetPoint.

The file size of SetPoint is approximately 35 Mb.

I hate these updates that say "for changelog, read the readme file included" So basically "download this 35mb file then figure out if you actually need it or not"

Especially when the readme.txt doesn't say anything either. Nothing new to the eye after installation, and the larger size probably has to do with support for additional devices.

After having a quick go at deleting files not necessary for my MX-1000 mouse I ended up with a zipped archive of less than a tenth of the download. That's with full functionality remaining and without touching any of the actual driver files for other stuff. So here seems to be an oportunity for a kind of light-pack for modem users and those of us who just don't like garbage. I don't have the knowledge to get into modding the actual installer of the Logitech package though...

i think people want to see a change log first, because if they have 56K Modem it would be a waste of time if they downloaded it and it wasn't needed!

It would be preferable for most...but seeing as this is logitechs method the complaints are quite often not seen..

But i don't see any real improvements over the previous version.

Is Setpoint now a replacement for Mouseware then? Hope it is. I have a laptop and at work, it connects to an MX700 mouse (Mouseware) and away from the office, i use a V500 mouse (Setpoint). At the moment i have both huge drivers installed - seems crazy to me.

I have an mx700...for users of these setpoints, what benefits are there over the mouseware drivers?
