Default Post DriverHeaven’s Monthly Gaming Roundup – June 2005 Edition

Wow! Time sure has flown by, hasn’t? 6 months of gaming goodness have already passed us by and the next 6 months looks promising. June has also come and gone and we were blessed with some noteworthy games, especially on the PC realm. So let’s take a look at what the month of June has brought us.

PC

The month of June started out strong for the PC realm with the release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Also available on the X-Box). It’s an excellent port of the PS2 hit game which debuted in October of 2004. Another big hit landed in the form of Battlefield 2, truly an outstanding game in its core. Give it time to get out of the “teething” phase of its life, and it should be a great multiplayer game which should satisfy you for months.

Strategy game fans should spend some time with Knights of Honor.

Sony Playstation 2

The quirky platform game, Psychonauts (Also available for the PC and X-Box) made its debut on the PS2 and it’s definitely one for those who are looking for something traditional and different at the same time. Certainly a great experience!

Microsoft X-Box

Remember Conker’s Bad Fur Day for the N64? Well Conker’s back in this modern remake of a classic N64 title: Conker: Live and Reloaded. The single player experience is solid, but Rare LTD also felt the need to add an online multiplayer component!

Nintendo GameCube

For those of you who’re looking for a solid single player FPS experience on the console, take Medal of Honor: European Assault (Also available for PS2 and X-Box) for a spin. Although, it lacks multiplayer, the single player is short and sweet. Worth a rental.

Conclusion

Quite a slow month in terms of quality games overall, especially for the GameCube which suffers from lack of exclusive fun. BF2 and GTA:SA gave the PC realm a nice waking up after a relatively silent month of May. Upcoming titles on the next half of this year look to be solid and on time, but unfortunately they will not make their debuts until either late quarter 3 or in quarter 4 of this year. So until next month, happy gaming everyone!
