Man convicted for chipping Xbox
A 22-year-old man has become the first person in the UK to be convicted for modifying a video games console. The Cambridge graduate was sentenced at Caerphilly Magistrates' Court to 140 hours of community service.
The man had been selling modified Xbox consoles which he fitted with a big hard drive containing 80 games. "This case sets a major precedent which marks a milestone in the fight against piracy," said games industry spokesman Michael Rawlinson. ______________________ Read More/Source: BBC |

Oh noooooooo! Not community service! I'm sure he would have never profited off of mod chips and pirated games had he thought he may be sentanced to community service.

For chipping, or for preloading with a huge dollop of pirate software?
Chipping in order to play a backup made to keep the original safe, is something most people would consider to be "fair use", but chipping and supplying with a load of illegal software is indefensible. |
