Adobe fixes Linux flaw in Reader

Adobe Systems on Tuesday issued a patch for vulnerabilities found in Unix and Linux versions of its Adobe Reader. The flaws, found in Adobe Reader 5.0.9 and 5.0.10, affects computers running on Linux, Solaris, IBM-AIX or HP-UX.

The vulnerabilities could allow remote exploitation of a buffer overflow to take control of a user's computer, if a malicious PDF document is opened or an e-mail attachment is opened. The flaws do not affect the Microsoft Windows version of these Adobe Readers. The software vendor has released Adobe Reader 7.0, which patches the flaw.
