No S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in 2005?

Oblivion-Lost.com is reporting that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, the first-person shooter in the works at GSC Game World, will not be released this year. They attribute the news to GSC's Anton Bolshakov by way of an chat with the moderator of the game's Russian forums, saying that this has also been confirmed by several journalists who have relationships with publisher THQ. This does not technically represent another delay for the game, which has suffered several already, as the last time the project's release date was revised from May of this year (story), no new projected date was set. Here is the failed attempt to sum up the news in two words:

"In two words, to sum up an ICQ chat: when the plot is fully implemented (it is being completed), the simulation will be finally tuned. This is what the team is doing right now.

The game will certainly not come out this year.

Look for the beginning of the wide advertising campaign, as it will mean half a year until the release."

looks to me just like another halflife2.... september 13th! (was that the date?)

Well this gives them time to optimize and gives the consumers time to purchase new video cards. I recall the in-game demo video showing off how inconsistent the framerate was. It looks like an okay game though.

Even if it's a pain to wait so long the game will rock anyway exactly the same than HL2

Except if the project never ends or finishes like another cheap FPS...

I hope this game fails and the company goes bankrupt. They've been hyping this game for almost 2 years and still dont even have it done. Those crossing their fingers for the next Half life 2 will be disappointed cause it will suck.

Jeez, I mean if they said January 2006 that would be one thing. However, by the time this thing comes out it's graphics will be dated. I'm not really surprised it's a FPS /w THQ.

Thats the big thing for me, I watched the videos 2 years ago (showing some helicopter through a scope) and the graphics blew me away. Now that kind of thing is common place and its gonna be a more delays because they will have to update the graphics or it'll bomb.

they said a year ago that it was basicaly done... than a couple of months after that they said that they are gonna delay it and they are happy that they could delay it cuz they can work on it more and tweak n stuff... that was like 9 months ago.. NOW another delay :-|

my guess is that there fully functional eco system is screwing them over.
it just sounds too good to beleive.
