rolleyes Intel "gives permission" for firms to buy AMD chips

"An interesting snippet from the always entertaining Digitimes flies by the INQ office. The wire claims that Intel has told its OEMs they "are now allowed" to buy AMD microprocessors. Is this true? First it would imply that Intel told its OEMs they weren't allowed to buy AMD microprocessors in the first place, so making the whole antitrust legal cafuffle in the US redundant. And demonstrating a certain gutlessness on behalf of the OEMs.

Secondly, does "being allowed" to buy AMD CPUs mean OEMs are "allowed" to give Intel all of its cooperative marketing funds back?

Shorely shome mishtake.

Is this like when your girlfriend says "Oh Sure, you go out with your friends, I don't mind" But you know you're going to catch hell when you do.

HEHEHEHEHE very very true. Interesting tho, doesn't this mean intel have just admitted their guilt?

If this is true, wouldn't it pretty much prove AMD's case?

I'm curious about the market impact. AFAIK, AMD doesn't have a too much a production capability. I don't know how much demand they can handle. Too much demand could ramp the prices quite a bit.
I'll just wait and see...

I'm pretty sure they could keep up with demand. If I remember correctly they're going to open up some new plants.

Just a warning to everyone, wait until a reputable news source delivers this story before you start celebrating. The inquirer is almost as far from reliable as you can get.
