Infinium Labs Granted 'Phantom' Mark

"Infinium Labs, the developer of the Phantom Game Service that has been plagued by claims of vaporware has been granted a trademark for the name "Phantom" by the USPTO. The company remains adamant the service will launch this year, despite only recently showing a working demonstration after years of media hype.

"This trademark preserves the Phantom Game Service brand in the marketplace and protects our service identity," said Kevin Bachus, Infinium Lab's President and Chief Operating Officer. Bachus has said Phantom is not technically a gaming console, but a service, which enables users to purchase and stream PC games on-demand."

Demigod is on a distinguished road

Why do I get the feeling they are going to drop the console bit altogether and make a content delivery system like steam?

I know this is partially off-topic, but what ever happened with the lawsuit between Infinium and the website they tried to sue?

Well, I tell you, they should have had the console out last year. This year they will be going up against Microsofts Xbox 360, and next year will be Sonys PS3 and Nintendos Revolution. What chance do they think they have against those 3 systems? None.. that's what.

Does anyone else think that this is just another Duke Nukem Forever scheme? You know, promise that it'll be out "soon", suck the money from investors year after year, but never deliver anything other than a "promo" or "demo"? Next they'll be changing their minds, revamping the hardware to suit "current" technology, and delay the bugger another 5 years, all while sucking more money out of investors. Rinse, and repeat.

Speaking of which, where the hell is the Apex "ApeXtreme" console based on DISCover?
