When SLI
debuted last year, NVIDIA used the GeForce 6800 Ultra and GeForce 6800 GT to display their dual card technology. Later that year we saw SLI move down into the mainstream with the GeForce 6600 GT PCI-Express video cards. One model of the GeForce 6 series that hasn’t been touched on much for use in SLI mode is the GeForce 6800 “Non Ultra,” which also carries full SLI support. In fact, SLI support now encompasses the entire GeForce 6 series.
The GeForce 6800 is a 12 pixel-pipeline derivative of the GeForce 6800 GT and 6800 Ultra. It has the exact same feature support as the GeForce 6800 GT and Ultra, but it has slower GPU and memory frequencies to meet a lower price point. Here is a quick and dirty comparison chart showing you the main differences between the 6800, 6800 GT/Ultra and 7800 GTX.
