Production of all versions of controversy-wracked bestseller suspended. M-rated, Hot Coffee-free version expected in Q3; Take-Two lowers guidance on news, still blames "unauthorized third party modification." Full story coming soon.
Take-Two Interactive has announced that is ceasing manufacturing of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, following the decision by the ESRB to change the game's rating from Mature 17+ to Adults Only 18+. This of course happening due to the hot coffee incident. Rockstar Games will work on a modified version of the game to restore the M rating, saying that the new release will prevent the hot coffee mod from working. Of course what they actually mean is that they'll remove the content as the mod only unlocked what was already there (it's even in the Playstation 2 version). For the original PC release of the game, Rockstar will soon release a patch. ___________________________ Source: Gamespot & ShackNews Last edited by daRk_heLmet; Jul 21, 2005 at 12:03 AM. |

The fact that AO games aren't sold in major retail stores will certainly hurt sales, but I still believe San Andreas will be a different story than other AO games. Most, if not all, AO game before San Andreas weren't very good, and since they were AO to begin with, few people knew about them. San Andreas has already been out for a long time, sold millions, and is proven to be a great game, so sales certainly won't stop all of a sudden.
Still, I'm glad I already have my copy *hugs all 3 GTA games* also *ready to punch anyone who thinks of taking them away from me*EDIT: So, other than Ebay, what places will still sell San Andreas now? It no longer shows up on EBgames or Gamestop. Of the more popular places, I've only had luck finding it on Amazon.com. I already own it of course, just curious.
