Pretec Announces 4 GB SD Card
Pretec Electronics Corp. announced today that it will soon begin offering an SD card that can hold 4 gigabytes (GB) of data.
This will be highest capacity SD card in the world. Currently, the largest SD cards are 2 GB. These are made by several companies, SanDisk in particular, though its version is only sporadically available. Pretec's 4 GB SD card will be constructed with 65 nano-meter 16 Gb SLC NAND technology, which Pretec says is typically an order of magnitude better reliability and 200 to 500 percent faster than MLC NAND. It will use the new SD 1.1 specification. This is backwards compatible with older SD slots, but new devices that also use this specification will see a substantial speed increase. The company says it plans to begin mass production of this card next month. As often happens with cutting-edge cards like this, the price for the Pretec 133X 4GB SD Card will be quite high: $700. ___________ Read More / Source: BrightHand |
