Take-Two Sued Over Grand Theft Auto Scenes

NEW YORK - Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. and its Rockstar Games subsidiary are being sued in federal court in Manhattan over hidden sexual content in their popular "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" video game.

The lawsuit filed in the Southern District of New York on Wednesday is seeking class-action status for purchasers of the games. A Take-Two Interactive spokesman didn't immediately have a comment on Wednesday.

The plaintiff, Florence Cohen, claims in her lawsuit that she purchased the game for her teenage grandson in or about late 2004 when the game was rated "M" for mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board and was damaged when it came to light that sexually explicit scenes believed to be inaccessible by players were left in the game by developers.

I thought the PS2 version could be cracked via an action replay kinda thing (no idea though coz I'm a PC man).

AFAIC it still comes down to two things:

1. A game rated for a Mature audience should be able to have this kind of cartoon sex in it anyway. It's ok to kill, steal, even deliver hookers to tricks, but not to sleep with your girlfriend at 17 years old - go figure.

2. It doesn't unless you modify the code to reactivate the disabled part. Out of the box, it does what it says it should on the box. If you choose to do something with the product using external tools, you make that choice - you take the responsibility. I bet if granny bought sonny a gun, she'd not be suing S&W if he killed someone with it.

I am getting sick a tired of this are people this stupid, this is like buying a porno even with all the pics of naked people on the cover and taking it home and being outraged beacuse there are naked people on there having sex ok wasnt that kinda obvious, or taking a kid to a R or NC-17 movie and being outraged beause there was violence and sexual content in it hello people what the hell do you thing the rating means. I think my quote at the end of my sig applies to this very well. Nobody in this country wants to take any responsobility anymore its always somebody elses fault we have execuse for everything.

I guess the "may" in the descriptor makes them believe none of those things could actually be in the game. This probably goes through their stupid little minds, "It MAY contain violence and sexual content, but it should be a nice kid friendly game if it happens to not have any of that."

I really don't know how anybody could be stupid enough to think that, but a whole lot of stupid stuff has happened with this whole issue, so anything's possible at this point.

Well, I've said to people I know, the US has become a litigious society that sues at the drop of a hat ... things that in the 50's would have been "an accident" are now sued for ... so I'm not surprised this happened.
