Giving Reviews the Thumbs Down

Peter Brig wanted to warn others about the problem he had with the computer storage discs he purchased from Newegg.com. But when he tried to post a product review on Newegg's Web site, the company rejected his submission. Twice.

"I just wanted to tell other people about the incompatibility" with his Sony DVD burner, says the 44-year-old U.S. Army engineer from Orlando, Fla., who says he is a loyal Newegg customer. "But they didn't allow me to communicate that to anyone."

Frustrated, Mr. Brig voiced his dissatisfaction with Newegg's review process on ResellerRatings.com, where customers provide feedback on online retailers. Within days of his posting, a Newegg representative contacted Mr. Brig by telephone, apologized and offered him a full refund for his purchase.

While Mr. Brig was glad to receive the refund and continues to shop on Newegg, he says: "I still don't know if I truly trust their review process."

Yep they appreat filter thier reviews, edit them!
and kick them as in refuse to use them especally
if thier negitive!

"Newegg, says products with an overwhelming number of negative reviews are removed from its Web site, along with all of the complaints."

Now I wonder how truthful that Is I've seen items that wasn't to hot that get
everyhing wiped out and then show up under a new item number with no reviews.

"Newegg, which boasts more than 175,000 reviews "from buyers like you" on its homepage~

The company says it has a team of eight people who monitor reviews and reject submissions if they are too vague, mention competitors or criticize a brand without specific product insight, among other reasons. From July 1 to Aug. 2, the site received 18,188 reviews and rejected 15% of them, according to a Newegg spokesman."

Nice to know that such a small team handles the reviews. Buy the way if you do tha math and rember that this os the "off season" meaning they should have much more in the fall.

So for one year only! 18, 188 X 12 = 218,256 reviews that is a off or weak sales year. Note that means 32,738 reviews were kicked of that 218,256 to = 185,517. God knows how many were "edited".

"note" that the entire number of reviews they would have in total for
4 years of business (Founded in 2001) currently there is only 178,264
total reviews for all 4 years!!!

asumeing they have had review feature up for at last 4 years and figureing
18,000 reviews per month (wich there ae surely time were there are many times that)(wich makes up for the lower time like when they started) you come to a total of 872,000 +/- reviews, as a rough figure they have only 178,264 so wonder what happened to the other 693,736 +/- ?that would come to 79% unaccounted for reviews

not complelt accurate but gives you an idea...
the actual numbers could be more or less
But it a litle more then a shot in te dark...

Funny I had the same problem as him. You guys probably remember the problem I had with some Ritek discs, and a Pioneer DVR-109. They should really put some of them up especially for stuff like that. It would save their customers, and themselves hassle.

daedal is on a distinguished road

At least you have NewEgg, we don't even have them in Canada and if we use the US site, the import fees are mind-blowing and costs less to shop at regular stores. *Cry*
