Catalyst 5.8 released with Competition (and on DH a day before ATI.com)!

Well here you go another 24 hour exclusive from my good friends at ATI, specially for their favourite community Driverheaven.net !

Thanks to the very cool people in ATI.com they have agreed to let Driverheaven host Catalyst 5.8 CCC before they go live on www.ati.com on Wednesday.

This set weighs in at around 33 megabytes and is available from www.driverheavendownloads.net please be aware the demand for this set will be extremely high so if you are failing to get it from one of our 100mbit mirrors then follow the discussion thread into our forums for smaller mirrors which our very able community always provide - DO NOT hammer or attempt to leech from the server you will get your IP banned. I also have set up a few small FTPs to help our community get and spread the set before ATI open their server farms tomorrow.

ALSO a cool new competition from Catalyst Maker:

I'm feeling a bit festive today, and in the mood to give away stuff to the driverheaven community. Here is what I have lying around that I will send to a lucky winner

1) Unopened version of Atari's Act of War (great game by the way)
2) Brand new XL sized, grey "Property of ATI Tech X850" T-shirt
3) My X700 256MB PCI-Express graphic card that I used only for a bit of testing. I am not sure if this card works or is busted, but you get it as is. No refunds, no exchanges. Its just my engineering sample board. Consider it a cool paperweight if it doesnt work.

Simple rules:

I will pick a random post that is created starting from right now and until the time we post CATALYST 5.8 on ati.com tomorrow (about 23 hours from now i.e. 3pm Eastern time) .

To enter the contest just post whatever you have to say and at the end of your post put in "DH and ATI rock". The more you post the better your chance of winning.

At 3pm EST tomorrow (or around there), I will pick a random post and let Zardon know of the winner who will post your name on the front page of DH as the lucky winner.

Yay,

If Only I had bought a X800XL instead of my junky 6600GT.

It seems like ATI is always doing nice improvements in their drivers, I've never been able to find release notes for the Nvidia ones..

Aw well
