Samsungs looking to set 40-inch LCD panel standard in the market

Retail prices for 40-inch LCD TVs recently dropped as much as 20%, with some prices dropping below 20,000 yuan (US$2,456) in the China market, as Samsung Electronics begins making a push for its 40-inch LCD panels, according to market sources.

The South Korea-based company is aggressively promoting its 40-inch LCD TV panels to China-based system makers, with the Taiwan edition of the Chinese-language Apple Daily claiming Samsung is quoting its 40-inch panels for US$920-950. According to iSuppli, pricing for low-end LCD-TV panels in the 40- to 42-inch size range declined to US$950 in July, the first time it has fallen to less than US$1,000.

will not be great quality... but still... that's soooo cheap!
