iPAQs Used in Hurricane Relief

Military medics are using iPAQ Pocket PCs when treating victims of Hurricane Katrina.

According to Government Computer News, these handhelds will be running the Battlefield Medical Information System-Tactical (BMIS-T), which will give the medics access to patient records and potential treatments.

It allows the medics to record the results of every session they have with a patient, and includes dental records and current medication information.

BMIS-T was developed by the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center, a part of the Army Research and Material Command in Fort Detrick, MD.

More information on BMIS-T is available here.
