Hercules Soundcard Driver Update 6.07

I saw this at W2S:

Hercules has released new unified drivers for their Fortissimo II series, GTXP series, Fortissimo III 7.1 and Digifire 7.1. These cards utilizing either the CS4624 or CS4630 chipset from Cirrus Logic/Crystal.

Gamesurround Fortissimo II??? Hmmm... if it works on my brother's TerraTec DMX Xfire 1024 (they are both same cards, it should work, previous drivers worked), it will not be for sale anymore

These drivers are excellent! They offer everything that TerraTec drivers offer + more (96 HW voices for example, instead of 32 how was before, while TerraTec has 94).

Ok folks these new driver4s will not install, it detects a network connection and stops period. I have disconnected my cable, disabled all connections in the control panel network connections, and have even gone as far as disabling my on board LAN, these drivers hit a connection and stop they will not install period..

In all the recent excitement of Omegadrive ATI releases and the new 42.01 dets from nVidia, I sort of forgot I even HAD a soundcard. I just downloaded 'em, I'll go check them out on win98se & XP on me Fortissimo II.

I can't get mine in either, went as far as uninstalling modem and ethernet card and running in safe mode, always a no-go saying I have a internet connection running. WTF?

It works on my brother's DMX Xfire 1024 (same chip, same card, different manafacturer).
And I put a lot of ? because I wanted to show that I am suprised about support for that old card.

For those with internet connection problem:

I think it has something to do with automatic updating. Try to install drivers then do manual updating of device manager thing.

Motion Blur at the [H]ardforms had the answer. Right click the file, go to Compatability, and set to Win2000 emulation. Worked fine after that. Happy New Years to you all!

They installed just fine for me on my FortissiomoII in 98se, I haven't tried the XP side yet.

Holy crap!
A driver update! Finally!

Time to download and install them!
After I finish my surface scan of my new hd.. which already has
3 bad clusters.. piss off! gonna exchange it later.

But yeah, finally! Joyous occasion!

they say they fixed the CS Chat-Bug.. i *really* hope that they're
talking about the voice-comm when using a3d.. can anyone
verify this? i'd do it myself, except.. well, yeah.. read above.

Stereo expansion (or sthg like that, mp3 acceleration, Sensaura acceleration.)

Stereo Expansion is still there,

Sensaura Audio Acceleration is still there, but they've grouped
it together with "DirectSound acceleration" and called it
"3D Audio Acceleration", to simplify it for those users who don't
know what's what. I think that 'Maximum' setting is both DSound
and Sensaura, 'High' is just DSound and 'Off' is off.

And I don't know about MP3 acceleration.. i've never had that
option.. i only have the Fortissimo II..

MP3 Decoding is not available on Fortissimo II or III, only on CS4630, that means Game Theater XP.

Thanks everybody (especially mystik), it's mostly a psychological problem from my side: now that there are less options I feel like my sound card (which I really love) isn't that good, cos really, I haven't seen any difference between the 6.07 and the 5.01? (dunno anymore).....

hehe.. i know what you mean about "more is better" kinda thing..

and as for the differences of the drivers.. since I have an older
card, there are some big differences.. especially many bug fixes..
the wait for these drivers were well worth it, imho..

now if only Aureal rose from the grave..

wont your MP3 player be a "LINE IN" .And wont you use another record APP? Or is the lac of Hardware Acceleration chk box the issue?

mp3 acceleration is just a feature that allows the DSP of the GameTheater XP to use DirectSound and as a result you have less processor usage...

P.S.: DirectSound is only used by Media Player, so the GT XP accelerates only when you're using MP

DirectSound is used by Winamp too. But MP3 is already decoded when it comes to an output...

Excuse me if I'm wrong but back when I had the GTXP I thought the MP3 acceleration function only worked DirectShow enabled players? Which is pretty much defunct now. I never noticed any benefit in having this enabled anyway. I'm sure there is a post in the Hercules forums about it.
