Serious Sam "The Second Encounter" Patch!

The patch that is 'almost out' for nearly two months now, is now out in beta form. We have made available a beta version of the patch, so, if you feel brave enough, you can enjoy the benefits of:

*full hardware 3D sound (with EAX) with support for dolby surround 5.1
*optimized rendering (5-20% faster)
*support for occlusion culling
*major improvements to skeletal animations (seen in updated tech-test level)
*support for hardware vertex & pixel shaders (seen in updated tech-test level)
*Parhelia triple-head support (support for three monitors)
*detection of newer graphic cards (ATI Radeon 9700/pro, ATI Radeon 9500/pro, ATI Radeon 9000/pro, NV GeForceFX, Matorx Parhelia, SiS Xabre 600/400/200)
*no more syncbads in multiplay
*recoded demo rec/playback (no sync problems) and more...

The delay was mainly caused by problems in Internet multiplay, and that is the reason for this version still carying the 'Beta' mark. Single play is all green, better than ever, and lan multiplay is doing fine too.

not a lot of people play it online anymore. prolly it can be used as benchmark for 9700 against nvidia. :P

well this really is some opengl eye-candy.

arming myself with the newest omega DX9 driver set, my trusty 9700 pro, I decided to give my rig a good old test out.

running SS2 with this new patch and DX9, at 1600x1200, 16 aniso, and 2fsaa, forced refresh of 85hz, game settings at max details....... I loaded up the newest fraps and was stunned to see, even in REALLY hectic scenes the frame rate rarely going under 40 fps, frequently in the 60-70 fps zone.... and perfectly smooth. dropping the res to 1280x1024 (which I normally play at, fps rose a good 20fps or more on the above, same game settings - max).

awesome... indeed. still a fun game also.

There are several things I noticed. Everything is sharper. All the textures just pop out at you. I like it. Even if it is a beta... It is an excellent start

I agree with you Wolf. The game just seems more fluid and game play is a lot better. However, what the heck is the two new items added to the top of the hud? I'm speaking of the top left two.

Okay everyone call me a dumb bunny. When taking this screen shot I then realized what those two items where. Yeah, yeah only I can truly make an ass of myself. Laugh it up folks! This is what happens if you haven't played a game in a very long time time and think you see something new with a beta patch.
