ROFL!!!! I'd like to see it but they really havn't been much since well PCI
cards went out as the thing to go with. Even then ATI and Nvidia and vodoo led the way... They have a very very long ways to go to even begain to compete withthe big boys. On miumal onbord hardware support and software emunlation are no subsitue for real acelleration. AS ati has rolled out FULL DX9 hardware IGP and nvidia rools its ou the door. SIS has to be feeling The sqweese thier soultion can't stack up. Cant even run all the tests in 3dmark 2001, litle lone any decent games... They do have some "cards" but again they way out guned. I wish them luck

Other players have rattled their sabres before now .. whatever happened to Trident's chip?
S3 graphics, in the current era, has lived on as the onboard of several VIA chipsets, living up to the low expections in serving office applications. I will be great if there is another player in the market, to prevent any slackening of competion. Some of us are old enough to remember the heyday of S3 - when VRAM was king - I even have an old Diamond stealth video VRAM VLB (S3 968) to throw in a revived 486, though if there are no decent Linux drivers, I'll fall back on my other old favourite, the Cirrus 5428 VLB, if that does better. I also owned (still got it in the loft) a S3 Savage 4 PCI - my first real 3D card. |
